Renee Adams (b. 1972, Frankfurt, Germany) is based in Thorp, WA, and she received her BFA in metalsmithing from Colorado State University and her MFA in sculpture from Central Washington University. Adams is a mixed media artist, though she primarily works in sculpture and installation. A self-described “rural artist”, her work explores the relationship between man and nature, in particular plant life, in rural communities. Recent solo and group shows include Sarah Spurgeon Gallery CWU (Ellensburg, WA), Clymer Museum and Gallery (Ellensburg), SOIL (Seattle), Boxx Gallery (Tieton, WA), North Idaho College, and Columbia Center for the Arts (Hood River, OR). Adams co-founded Punch Gallery, an artist-run space which operated in Seattle for ten years; and she continues to curate exhibitions in its current iteration, Punch Projects, a rural art collective in Thorp, WA, which is dedicated to supporting and promoting rural artists through exhibitions, art happenings, installations, concerts, and poetry readings.
