Justin Adian

Justin Adian  (b. 1976, Fort Worth, Texas) is a New York–based artist who earned his BFA from the University of North Texas in 2000 and his MFA from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts in 2003. Adian creates wall-mounted sculptures by stretching painted canvas over wood and foam supports. Executed in oil, enamel, and spray paint, these works often consist of multiple geometric forms that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. Through their carefully considered color relationships and structural compositions, the works come to life as they project from the wall, engaging the surrounding space rather than existing as freestanding objects. Both playful and sophisticated, Adian's sculptures balance a sense of play with conceptual depth. Adian has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally, with solo and group exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, China, and throughout the United States. His work is represented in numerous private and public collections, including the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, among others.
