Brandi Twilley (b. 1982, Oklahoma City, OK) lives and works in Oklahoma City, and she received her MFA from Yale University. Twilley’s figurative paintings draw on powerful autobiographical memories. She repeatedly returns to subjects of significance from her childhood in Oklahoma, seeking to capture their essence in intimate renderings made with an accomplished painterly technique. Her work depicts both psychological states and the atmosphere of objects, activities and spaces (Platform). Recent solo and group exhibitions include Sargent’s Daughter (NY), Charles Moffett Gallery (NY), Josh Lilly Gallery (London, UK), Zero Gallery (Milan, Italy), The Museum of Sex (NY) and Kate Werble Gallery (NY). Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, ARTFORUM, ARTnews, The Art Newspaper, The New Yorker, Artnet News, Time Out, The Observer, and Hyperallergic, among other publications.
